4000Qtrap A fantastic, highly original Bandcamp 'find'. Upbeat organic electronica that has deep jazz tension and complex rhythms that never get boring. Textured, precise, groovy bass lines are fantastic. Great for focusing, partying or chilling. Production is tight, top notch. Favorite track: Hush.

Jio House? Techno? Minimal? Who cares, this is heavy heady body music made for dark basements that is simply irresistible. Favorite track: Brooklyn.

Nic Brown The album "Hauntologists" most reminds me of (and I can honestly pay it no higher complement) is Dawn Of Midi's "Dysnomia", which essentially consists of acoustic jazz that bears an uncanny resemblance to minimal techno. "Hauntologists", on the other hand, offers the genuine article, but this is minimal techno with such an exquisitely loose, improvisatory feel, one could easily mistake it for the work of an experimentally-inclined jazz trio. Brilliant. Favorite track: Hush.

about

"After five EPs — brilliant, moody, odd techno from Berlin — an album at last from Jay Ahern and Stefan Schneider.
‘An invocation of ghosts from the past; ancient rhythms re- imagined as future shock... Coarse and physical, dark and sexually-charged; motorik, like a drummer in a time loop, but spontaneous and slightly frayed, driven by the same spirit as certain African street music.’
You can hear right away the influence of Schneider’s last five years of field-recording in East Africa — projects like Mukunguni and Rang’ala — in amongst the ‘bleeps and acid, Sähkö and longing’.
Warmly recommended."
